BLT Elettronica was founded in Tuscany, as an artisan company in 1959 from the impetus and enthusiasm of its young founder Leonardo Bartelletti, pioneer of the new television industry: only 17 years old was able to receive the experimental broadcasts of RAI (Italian Radio Television), thanks to a rudimentary black and white TV made with his hands!

In 1979, the individual company was transformed into BLT (Bartelletti Leonardo Televisione). In over half a century of activity, thanks to a continuous updating of research and development, BLT has kept pace with technological developments in the sector: from the disappearance of thermionic valves  to the early 1960s in favor of the use of transistors, to the birth of the first integrated circuits, up to today’s micro-electronics and the rise of information technology of the current digital age of the 21st century. 

The late 1990s saw BLT fully engaged in numerical compression technologies:

• One of the very first made worldwide hard-disk recorder, able to store up to 20 minutes of high-quality video on a 2 Gigabyte disc, that received several awards, starting with the 1994 “NAB Pick Hit – Las Vegas.
• VDR-200, a machine, with simultaneous recording and playback capabilities, capable of replaying and “slowing down” in real time.
• RUS Remote Unit Sport control panel, which will be the key to BLT’s specialization towards systems dedicated to live filming and television productions, in particular sporting events, which by their nature of uniqueness and non-repeatability require maximum reliability and operational quality.

The 21 Century still witnesses the leading technological role of BLT in the broadcasting Industry with its extended family of products.
